A Reckoning is the first novel from a prospective series of stand alone speculative novels set in the latter half of the twenty-first century, depicting a society in the process of collapse.

A New Dark Age draws on history to imagine a world regressed and degraded, whilst also drawing on contemporary themes climate disaster, economic and social injustice, protest and conflict.

Nevertheless, the novel's main concern is with the triumph of human spirit over adversity. 

When the collapsing began there were riots. Living standards fell and the state started to crumble.
